About the CCL Filipino test

NAATI lists Filipino among its 55 CCL languages. The format is the same for every language: two recorded dialogues of about 300 words, split into segments of 35 words or fewer, which you interpret between English and Filipino in both directions. You pass with 63 out of 90 and at least 29 in each dialogue. Read the full CCL test guide for the format, marking, fees and booking.

NAATI also has free practice materials for Filipino: four old test dialogues as PDF and MP3, on its practice materials page.

How to prepare for CCL Filipino

  1. Learn the words by topic. Missing or wrong terms cost marks, so learn the right Filipino word for each medical, legal or housing idea. Short daily sessions with spaced review help them stick.
  2. Interpret out loud. Listen to a sentence, wait for the chime, and start saying it in the other language within 5 seconds, then compare with the model answer.
  3. Sit full mock tests. Two full dialogues in the CCL format show where you lose marks: omissions, wrong terms or long pauses. See how to pass CCL.

CCL Filipino: questions

Is there a free CCL Filipino mock test?

Yes. CCL Mate's free online practice includes a full mock test in Filipino and English in the CCL format: two dialogues, a chime after every segment and model answers to compare with. Premium opens every mock-test dialogue in your language and adds AI marking of each segment, within a fair daily limit.

Where can I find a CCL Filipino vocabulary list?

This page shows a sample of the Filipino terms used in CCL Mate, grouped by topic. The app has all 1,797 key terms with audio, and the free version includes 200 of them.

Does the CCL Filipino test go both ways?

Yes. Each dialogue is about half in English and half in Filipino, so you interpret in both directions, in segments of 35 words or fewer, and you must start within 5 seconds of the chime.

Can I practise CCL Filipino on my phone?

Yes. The online practice works in any phone or computer browser, and the Android app is in early access on Google Play.

Is CCL Mate an official NAATI resource?

No. CCL Mate is an independent practice app and is not affiliated with NAATI. Your official result comes only from NAATI.
